SBAC's Program History The SBAC program started in 1994. Over the past fourteen years over 1,000 cancer survivors have enrolled in our supervised exercise program. The basic instructional format for the program is as follows: The SBAC Program is run two times per week including: Progressive resistance strength training Some of the results you can expect: Patients can participate in a program with other patients The program is structured and supportive of their recovery process. Although in a class format, the exercise protocols are individualized for each participant.Patients receive benefits of a support program (sense of belonging, help through a difficult period, assigned a task and goal setting, working through discomfort, etc). similar to the effects of group therapy (sharing thoughts on cancer, recovery process, feelings of hope and a sense of belonging). |
